Evidence before publication

Use primary sources where possible. Check dates, jurisdiction and the distinction between a proposal and a rule in force. Distinguish news, opinion, sponsorship and speculation. Migration and finance content must not promise individual outcomes.

Respect people and creators

Critique ideas without harassment, threats or discrimination. Do not publish private information, unverified accusations or speculation about sensitive characteristics. Keep source, creator and licence records for media. Availability online does not grant reuse rights.

Assisted editorial work

AI may assist research, drafting and illustration. Sensitive subjects require human review before publication. Other assisted content must pass source, rights and quality checks. Label synthetic illustrations and disclose substantial AI assistance. Never fabricate interviews, quotations, evidence or sources.

Corrections and moderation

Comments are reviewed before publication. Spam, personal attacks and unlawful or misleading material may be rejected. Send correction, copyright or moderation-review requests with the relevant link and evidence. We consider requests fairly and record substantive corrections.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within seven days and respond within 30 days. If more time is needed, we will explain why. If the Privacy Act applies and a privacy complaint remains unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Consumer remedies and other applicable complaint avenues remain available.
