Privacy policy.
Your information, choices and our responsibilities.

Who we are
Australia Illuminate (Auslume) was founded and is operated by Rohim Karki, ABN 34 590 057 675. This policy covers auslume.com.au and media.auslume.com.au. You can read public content without an account. Features below collect information only when available and used.
Accounts and information you provide
When you create an account, we handle your account identifier, email, chosen display name, profile details and authentication records. Google or Microsoft sign-in provides the identity details you authorise. We do not receive your provider password or request access to your inbox or contacts.
Saved articles, followed authors, reactions, author applications and account preferences support account features. Published author profiles, articles and approved comments are public. Choose a display name suitable for publication. Saved items and followed-author lists are private to you and authorised administrators.
We use enquiries to respond to you. Forms indicate whether delivery is available; an unavailable or failed submission is not a successful enquiry or subscription. Newsletter consent is separate from registration.
Technical information and purposes
Vercel and Cloudflare process IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, browser/device details, errors and security events to deliver and protect the site. Search queries may appear in URLs; do not include confidential information.
We use account information to authenticate users, manage permissions, personalise saved content, moderate submissions and communicate about the service. We do not sell private account contact details or saved lists. Optional marketing requires a separate choice.
Video, advertising and payments
External links open third-party services. Embedded video loads only when you choose to load it, after which the provider receives technical information and may use its own storage. Sharing controls do not publish on your behalf.
Advertising and payments are active only when offered on the site. Before advertising is enabled, we identify the provider and implement applicable consent choices. If AdSense is enabled, Google and its partners may use advertising cookies based on visits to this and other websites. Personalised-ad controls are available at myadcenter.google.com.
Payment providers process payment details, fraud checks and transactions. We receive the identifiers, payment status and contact details needed to fulfil orders, process refunds and keep records; we do not store full card numbers or security codes. Author payment onboarding may require identity and bank details supplied directly to the payment provider. Authors receive only information necessary to administer their tips.
Providers and overseas processing
Vercel provides application hosting; Cloudflare provides DNS/network security and, when enabled, email forwarding. Messages to our published Auslume address are forwarded to an inbox administered by the operator. Supabase provides authentication, database and storage. The Auslume database is hosted in Sydney; provider support, telemetry and other processing may occur elsewhere.
Google, Microsoft, video providers and payment processors apply their own privacy policies. Information may be processed outside Australia, including the United States and other countries where providers operate. Disclosure is limited to service delivery, legal obligations, security or your instructions. No claim is made that all information remains in Australia.
Retention and security
We retain account information while needed to provide the account. Remove saved items and follows in your account, and request access, correction or account deletion through the contact below. Limited records may remain for legal obligations, security, disputes or financial recordkeeping. Published editorial content may remain as part of the publication record; we consider removal or de-identification requests individually.
Deleted information can remain in provider backups until expiry. Log retention depends on provider configuration. HTTPS, role-based permissions and database access controls protect information, but no online service is entirely risk-free. We assess incidents and notify affected people and authorities where required.
Your choices
Browse without an account, use a public display name, omit optional profile details, decline optional tracking and avoid loading third-party media. Authentication storage is necessary to maintain sign-in.
You may request access, correction or deletion, withdraw optional consent, or complain below. We may seek proportionate identity verification. If a request cannot be fulfilled, we explain why and available review options. We do not use account activity to make automated decisions about credit, employment, education or immigration eligibility.
Young people and updates
Accounts are intended for people aged 16 and over. Do not publish children's personal information. Contact us about an inappropriate account or submission. This age condition is a site rule, not a determination of regulatory classification.
We update this policy as practices change. The date identifies the current version; material changes affecting account use will be communicated through the service or an appropriate account notice.
Contact and complaints
Contact Rohim Karki at info@auslume.com.au. Describe your request and the outcome you seek. Do not send identity documents or sensitive information unless we arrange a secure channel.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within seven days and respond within 30 days. If more time is needed, we will explain why. If the Privacy Act applies and a privacy complaint remains unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Consumer remedies and other applicable complaint avenues remain available.
