The September school holidays have brought a trio of new family films to Australian cinemas, as noted in ABC Arts' monthly film wrap. If you are planning an afternoon out with the kids, here is a quick guide.

Coyote vs Acme

Directed by Dave Green and starring Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor, this Looney Tunes comedy mixes live action with animation. The premise is simple and very Wile E Coyote: after decades of faulty Acme products, the coyote takes the company to court.

Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom

The latest claymation adventure from Aardman, the British studio behind Wallace and Gromit, brings Shaun and the flock back to the big screen.

Forgotten Island

Directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, with voices including H.E.R., Liza Soberano and Lea Salonga, this animated adventure follows two best friends who discover a portal to an island of lost mythological creatures inspired by Filipino folklore.
